The Zoomlion XE4000GLS is a mining-class hydraulic excavator, and this 1:48 die-cast brings the biggest end of the earthmoving world down to shelf size.

Mining excavators are a different animal from the machines you see on city construction sites. They work open-pit mines, loading haul trucks that are themselves the size of a small house, and the XE4000GLS sits at the top of that class, a 400-tonne-plus machine whose bucket is measured in cubic metres rather than litres. This replica keeps that scale at 1:48: a long crawler track frame, a heavy counterweight at the rear, a tall boom and stick, and the oversized cab up front. It reads as "mining" the moment you see the proportions.

The body and undercarriage are die-cast alloy with a yellow finish, and the model ships assembled, no kit, no glue. A solid pick if your collection runs toward mining and construction iron rather than road cars.
